JWST-MIRI observations show an exciting discovery! Andrea finds that compact disks show a cold water excess over extended disks, which likely came from increased pebble drift in these disks, consistent with our numerical models! See the NASA press release here.

June: Whittney presented an AAS poster about our work on effect of multiple gaps in protoplanetary disks on inner disk water vapor.

Aug: Our paper on “linking outer disk pebble dynamics with inner disk water vapor” is accepted and now on arXiv!

Jun-Aug: Participated in the TXST SURE Program as an undergraduate student mentor

Jul 19-23: Participated in the Sagan Summer Workshop

May-Jun: Talked remotely about my modeling work in the disk/planet discussion groups at Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Lund University and Rice University.

June: Joined Texas State University as a postdoctoral researcher

Jan 23: My phD advisor Steve Desch came to Clemson for a visit and gave us a stimulating colloquium talk!

May: An eagle-eyed colleague Alan Heays brought to our attention that we (Kalyaan & Desch 2019) got featured in an article titled “The Power of Illustration” by the editor of Physics Today! Read it here.
